Yuanxiao is often translated as "lantern festival". During these events, the idol of gods are paraded around the village or the boundaries of the ritual alliance.
Although the actual festival for Yuanxiao occurs on the 15th day of the first lunar month, i.e. the last day of Chinese New Year, the residents of Putian conduct different Yuanxiao processions throughout the first few months of the year.
Each bar in the following interactive bar chart represents one calendar day, and the height corresponds to the relative number of Yuan xiao processions happening on that day. Clicking a bar will generate a list of processions occuring on the day.
